And the Oscar for Best, Most Sincere, and Inspired Quotes goes to:

For the Moms …
“I would like to thank what this film is about for me which are the moms that take care of the babies and the children no matter where they come from. Those moms and parents never get thanked.” – Sandra Bullock, after winning the award for best actress.

For the Women and Men in the Military …
“I’d just like to dedicate this to the women and men in the military who risk their lives on a daily basis in Iraq and Afghanistan and around the world. And may they come home safe.” – Kathryn Bigelow, upon winning the Oscar for best director.

For Mom and Dad and groovy professions …
“Thank you, Mom and Dad, for turning me on to such a groovy profession. Oh, my dad and my mom, they loved show biz so much. … I feel an extension of them. You know, this … is honoring them as much as it is me.” – Jeff Bridges, after winning the Oscar for best actor.

For a shiny dose of inspiration …
“What we did with Avatar, if you really look at it, we took things that are out there in the world every day, we just made them bigger, shinier. … But all our inspiration comes from the real world. So if you really look, you can see all those things around you, and I would just encourage people to get out and look for it.” – Joe Letteri, after winning the award for achievement in visual effects.

For making it real … and for Sidney, too …
“I would like to thank the Academy for showing that it can be about the performance and not the politics. … Thank you so much to my amazing husband, Sidney. Thank you for showing me that sometimes you have to forgo doing what’s popular in order to do what’s right. And baby, you were so right.” – MoNique, after winning the Oscar for best supporting actress.

For the precious dream …
“This is for everybody who works on the dream every day: precious boys and girls everywhere.” – Geoffrey Fletcher, after winning the best adapted screenplay award for “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire.”

For the possibilities …
“Never did I dream that making a flip book out of my third-grade math book would lead to this.” – Pete Docter, accepting the best animated feature film award for “Up.”

Hungry for more Celebrity Weight!!!
Mo’Nique loses 40 and puts a lid on it!

Is Oprah Hypnotizing YOU?

Just yesterday while discussing global warming, the end of winter, and the beginning of spring, I was remembering “Midnight Sun,” one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes.

The Plot: A woman (Lois Nettleton) tries to survive as the earth hurtles toward the sun. Needless to say, it was a chilling episode, and its end twist even more disturbing!

Now, fast forward to this morning’s headlines:
NASA scientists reported that the massive earthquake that hit Chile (magnitude 8.8) on Saturday, appears to have shifted the Earth’s axis, thus shortening our days. According to early calculations, 1.26 microseconds shorter.

Earthquakes shift massive amounts of rock and therefore, alter the distribution of mass on the planet, thus changing the planet’s rotation rate. The rotation rate determines the length of the day.

A microsecond is one-millionth of a second. Clearly, a 1.26 microsecond shift is not the end of the world, but still – rather disconcerting – no? And for us nighttime eaters, every microsecond counts!

For more on nighttime eating! …
10 Ways to Curb, Control & Conquer Your Nighttime Eating
Mindless eating occurs primarily at night, after dinner, when – after a long, sometimes difficult day – you sit down and relax. What to do? Understand it and plan for it!

Here, Janice Taylor, Weight Loss Coach and Our Lady of Weight Loss, the patron saint of permanent fat removal (she who guides her), give you:

10 Ways to Curb, Conquer and Control Nighttime Eating

1. Awareness First. Nighttime is often a vulnerable time of day. You might be tired. You may have said, “No, thank you,” numerous times throughout your day, and you’re worn down. It could be, more likely than not, that this is the first time that you are able to focus on your personal life and it’s bringing up anxiety. Know that you are not alone. We could all (me especially) blow a day of healthful eating within 10 minutes of nighttime snacking! Just knowing what to expect is helpful. … READ ON!

In celebration and with great elation,
I researched high and low, left and right
to find quotes that might take flight.

Quotes that delight my fancy,
Even though my name’s not Nancy!

In addition, I include a recipe that feeds the soul,
made of green stuff minus the mold!

A video too meant to get you through
feeling anew, without further ado,
and a yuzz-a-muzz-tuzz to you!

My Top 10 Dr. Seuss Quotes

1. Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.

2. You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose.

3. From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere.

4. I’m sorry to say so but, sadly it’s true that bang-ups and hang-ups can happen to you!

5. My alphabet starts with this letter called yuzz. It’s the letter I use spell yuzz-a-ma-tuzz. You’ll be sort of surprised what there is to be found once you go beyond ‘Z’ and start poking around!

6. So the writer who breeds more words than he needs, is making a chore for the reader who reads.

7. And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed.

8. Just tell yourself, Duckie, you’re really quite lucky!

9. From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere.

10. If you never did, you should. These things are fun, and fun is good.

Green Eggs and Ham a la Our Lady of Weight Loss (my muse)
who Leaves No Moss!
as she Walks Her Talk!

Ingredients:

Instructions:
Spray non-stick on large frying pan
Heat over medium heat
Toss ham slices on pan and brown until edges are slightly crisp
Remove ham from the pan * set aside. …
THEN: in a medium sized mixing bowl, combine: eggs, milk, salt and pepper.
Beat with whisk until frothy.
Add drop of green food coloring (or two depending on how green you want to make it!)
So, when I got home, I did a bit of digging and reading and here’s what I learned!

Green tea slows the aging process and may even reduce harmful blood cholesterol and blood sugar levels. It has been known to prevent and reduce the pain of rheumatoid arthritis.

Miraculous health benefits, indeed! Scientists in the United States and Switzerland published a study in the December 1999 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showing that green tea extract contained a substance that may help burn fat.

And then … whip up this fabulous dish …
Capellini Rosemary inspired by The Goddess of Love, Aphrodite!

Rosemary …

* when placed under your pillow it promotes pleasant dreams,
* when steeped in tea, it calms frayed nerves, and
* when the scent is present during certain amorous adventures, future hints of the heady bouquet will evoke a “Pavlovian call to love!” *Slightly thinner variation of recipe from “InterCourses: an aphrodisiac cookbook”

Rosemary, an aphrodisiac, can be found in early depictions of the Goddess of Love, Aphrodite, clutching or wearing a sprig of the fragrant herb.

BEGIN the love fest:
Start your evening with a hot soak in a bath scented with a few drops of rosemary essential oil will improve circulation to the skin and sensitivity to touch.

AND Then SERVE UP:
Capellini Rosemary a la Aphrodite, Goddess of Love, heavy on the aphrodisiacs

Ingredients:
6 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 cup chopped rosemary
1/2 cup chopped parsley
1/2 cup chopped chives
1 pound capellini
salt n’ pepper to taste

Instructions:
Heat garlic in olive in a skillet until nice n’ brown. * Stir in herbs and heat. * Cook the pasta until al dente. * Drain and toss with the herb mixture.

Spread the word … NOT the icing,

Recently, they interviewed me (available on I-Tunes as well as on Skinny Scoopers)! We had the best time laughing it up while slimming down. After the recording stopped, I turned the tables on Chris and Lisa, and spontaneously interviewed them!

JT: You guys are so much fun! Who ARE YOU, anyway?

C&L: We are a research geek and a reformed journalist, who together have activated our “wonder twin powers” to help others unlock the mysteries of the weight loss universe.

JT: What are “wonder twin powers?”

C&L: Actually they’re not unique to us. It’s that universal spark that happens when two women connect and each help other to become their very best self.

JT: What ARE the mysteries of the weight loss universe?

C&L: Turns out, it’s not so mysterious at all. We just have to be willing to accept the obvious and make the commitment to take care of ourselves.

JT: So true!!! We do have to accept the obvious! And together, you’ve lost, or as I like to say, ‘permanently removed’ how much excess weight?

C&L: We collectively lost over 100 pounds and like most people fight like hell every day to not gain every bit of it back.

JT: How did you two find each other? Have you been BBF’s forever?

C&L: We connected in the hood but solidified our relationship and mission in life when we landed in the same Weight Watchers meeting… one of us trying to conquer a lifetime of emotional eating, the other working to peel off post baby pounds for the fourth time.

JT: Do you mean that you are peeling off the pounds for the fourth time from the first pregnancy; or one time from each of four pregnancies?

C&L: I meant post baby pounds each time after four babies. Yes, didn’t get back to prepregnancy weight after first baby + 5 + 5+ 5 + 5= hmmm not my goal weight anymore!!??

JT: What’s The Skinny Scoopers mission?

C&L: To help women on ‘the path’ find the good food, the hot jeans, and be supportive sisters to all who make weight loss & better healthy and joyful journey rather than the insufferable experience.

JT: What are your top ten ‘fatitude’ tips?

Ain't THAT the truth! We do live in an obesogenic world! What are YOU going to do about it!!!

‘We live in an obesogenic environment – a plethora of fast food outlets, reliance on cars, and offers enticing us to eat larger portions …’ Professor Mike Kelly – as quoted in the Telegraph 8th October 2003

Ain’t THAT the truth! We do live in an obesogenic world!

The sidewalks in our towns and cities have been rolled up and taken away. We no longer take a quick walk or ride our bikes to the mart. We’re rolling down our driveways how many times a day?

The plethora of non-physical recreation choices, from television to surfing the net, to video games, add layers of undulating fat to the landscape. And last but not least, the food industry has hooked the public on foods that are laden with unhealthy amounts of salt, fat and sugar!

We live in a fat-creating world! What to do? Here are …
6 Obesity Fighting Tips for a Obesogenic World

1. Make your home your safe haven. Clear out the red light foods now. Toss ‘em, chuck em’, get rid of them. There’s enough temptation out ‘there!’

2. Shop the outer perimeter of the grocery store. For the most part, ‘real food’ like fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and meats are located on the outer aisles. The processed ’stuff’ is in the middle. If it’s not real food, do not eat it!

3. Brown Bag It. No need to spend the extra money or blow the calories on work meals. Pack up a nutritious lunch and snacks, and take it with you!

4. Throw an Apple in Your Bag. When you grab your keys, cell phone, and lipstick, be sure to grab a piece of fruit, too. Just in case you’re hungry, you’ve got something smart with you! Make it a habit!

5. Read the Menu Before You GO. More often than not, in these modern times, restaurants have their menus listed on the Internet. So check it before you head out! Make the smartest choice possible ahead of time. Don’t get suckered in by re-reading the menu or listening to the waiter hypnotize you with the specials. They’re not so special.

6. Open Your Windows and Yell, “I’m NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!” Say “NO!” to the food industry. Stop buying unhealthy products. Write editors of the fashion magazines, and tell them to stop listing the latest diet next to a recipe for 7 layer cake! Go to town meetings and tell them that sidewalks are a good idea.
Spread the word … NOT the icing!

Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks by eating 56 eggs. Would you? Weigh-In with Janice Taylor your weight loss coach! Making Weight Loss FUN!

According to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s recently published personal papers, she thought a slimmer version of herself might project a more powerful persona. In 1979, she purged 20 pounds with the help of 56 eggs!

The 20 Pound Plan!
Thatcher’s CRASH Plan included spinach, grapefruit, steak for dinner, black coffee, tea and, every so often – for good measure – a shot of whisky (taken with meat – otherwise not!).

However, it is believed that it was the one or two eggs for breakfast, coupled with a couple more at lunch time that did the trick!

Would you down 28 eggs a week, for two weeks? Hang the health?
Research shows that not all nutritionists, dieticians, and weight loss gurus are in agreement that eggs have a direct connection to high blood cholesterol. Some studies call the ‘egg’ the perfect protein. Eggs are high in vitamin B12, provide nearly a third of our daily Vitamin D requirement, and they are high in minerals.

Weigh-In!
Nevertheless, would you down 28 a week? 56 eggs in two weeks? Comment below!
