Want to read the Shape Magazine’s Weight Loss Diary article on The Rules that Janice Taught ME?

Janice Taylor, Weight Loss Coach, Shape Magazine

Featured in SHAPE MAGAZINE: I was talking with one of my star clients (you’re all stars), and she said, “What a surprise! I was reading Shape magazine this morning and there you were – in their ‘Weight Loss Diary’ column. (Yes, I am the official Life Coach for Shape Magazine 2010) I see that the woman in Shape is following your teachings about ‘the rules’,’ and she is losing weight like mad. Why don’t I follow ‘the rules’?” We had a good chuckle over that one! Yes, why not follow the rules? I replied, “We’ve spoken about the rules. Perhaps, now that you’ve read it in a well-respected national magazine and have proof positive that creating rules work, you will fully commit to your rules and melt those extra pounds away.” Enthusiastically she said, “Yes, I will!”

Today, I share the Shape magazine column and invite you to work with me to create Your Rules! Join with us … A teleseminar – The Rules: New Habits, New You! Easy as Pie! Wednesday, April 28 at 8 p.m. Eastern time. (800 # will be provided for call in) … for more info, to sign up, read on! Or write me – janice@janicetaylorliving.com or janice@kickinthetushclub.com

Our thoughts and words create our realities. They determine what we focus on, how we direct our attention, and how we use our mental and emotional energies.

Our thoughts and words create our realities. They determine what we focus on, how we direct our attention, and how we use our mental and emotional energies.

Tushkateer B.N. (a Tushkateer is a member of the Kick in the Tush Club) sent an email that I share with you, here, today. It sheds ‘lite’ on the words she uses and how they inform and create her reality.

How do your words color your reality?

Dear Janice ~ I know that I am an emotional eater and that every emotion will cause me to eat. When I am stressed, I eat; when I am bored, I eat; when I am lonely, I eat; when I talk to my ex, I eat; when I am happy, I eat – etc. etc. This has always been the case, but lately, I just can’t stop eating. I feel like one of those addicts that clearly needs an intervention, and I hoping that you will intervene and help me to stop this pattern! ~ B.N.

Dear B.N. ~ I am so pleased that you reached out for help. And I am hopeful that I can help you! This is indeed a pattern that you can STOP!!! Your first step is to step back and observe. Observe the language that you are using!!!

STOP Using Identity Statements.
When we say “I am,” we are making an identity statement. Identity statements go deep and stick. You wrote “I am stressed, bored, lonely, happy.” Is that who you really are?

STOP Using Absolutes.
You wrote, “every emotion will cause me to eat.” Really? EVERY emotion? Will cause you?

You wrote, “This has always been the case.” Always? Each and every time??? Never an exception?

STOP Saying that You Can’t.
You wrote, “I just can’t stop eating.” Instead of saying, I can’t, how about saying, “In this moment, I don’t know how to stop.” Once you shed the ‘lite’ on the truth; that it’s not that you can’t but rather than you don’t know how, you can then begin to investigate how to stop.

I do hope that this ‘intervention’ was useful to you and to all who are reading it! Well done, B.N.! Keep us in your loop and let us know how you turned it around and got your ‘upward spiral’ in motion! ~ Janice

Hey! How IS that January resolution working for you? I’m wondering if you’re still on the wagon, or if you’ve fallen off the wagon, and then gotten back on the wagon again?

Well, just in case you fell off and you’re feeling a bit bruised and discouraged and want some encouragement, I have put together some really small baby steps that you can take today that will get you moving again!

So … are you ready? To get moving? To jump back on that wagon? To commit to a healthier you? Here we go!

13 Small and Easy Steps that WILL Get YOU Back on the Wagon NOW!

1. Take a Short Walk. Even if it’s a five minute slow stroll around the block, get up and move your booty! Bundle up, if you have to. No excuses!!!

2. Whip up just one healthy recipe. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just healthy. Oatmeal will do!!

3. Start your day with a healthy breakfast. It does make a HUGE difference! There’s a reason every diet guru says have breakfast. Try a smoothie!

4. Drink your water. Your brain is 75% water. You don’t want your brain to dry out, do you? Try for 8 to 12 glasses a day. Make it Sassy Water!

5. If you BITE IT; you must WRITE IT. Start writing down what you eat (again). I promise you that you will not have to do this forever … just until you know what you are really ingesting!

6. Get Support. Be a Tushkateer! Join the Kick in the Tush Club!

7. Scissors and Glue. Get busy on your vision board. Cut and paste and psych yourself up or out?! Either way, include pictures of your goals and words that are meaningful to you!

8. Head to the health food section of your supermarket and stock up on healthy! If you don’t really know what healthy means, write me!

9. Do yard work. In your yard or your neighborhood garden! There’s nothing better than sticking your hands in the dirt to get grounded.

10. Listen to music. Music activates the same feel good center of the brain that food does. What are you favorite tuns? Please comment below, so I can listen too!

11. Eat fruits and veggies! They say that we should eat 9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day. Imagine, just for today that you actually did just that! Wow, what an accomplishment.

12. Slow down and savor the flavor. I promise you, it makes all the difference. You will enjoy your food and eat much much less.

13. Crochet, sew, play cards, work on a jigsaw puzzle. Create some nighttime activity that keeps your hands busy. Did you know that Our Lady of Weight Loss posts a jigsaw puzzle (almost) every Sunday on her Beliefnet blog and in her Kick in the Tush Club e-newsletter?

Spread the word … NOT the icing!
Janice

Living in a Love Space is a part of my diet plan. In order to successfully embody a healthy lifestyle, one must build reserves in all areas of their lives, including their relationship sector. If you are overflowing with loving relationships, you will in turn feel better about yourself; perhaps even love yourself (woo hoo). You can fill yourself up with love! It’s way better than cake. Truly!

Here are some tips that will help you ‘move towards love’ today and every day!

1. Say “IT” with Conviction! “I Love You!” I really do by the way, Love YOU! I love writing to you (almost) every morning. I love that you are in my life and have given me purpose. I so do LOVE YOU!

The next time you are with a friend, a lover, a family member – say ‘it’ with meaning.

2. Be “Them” Just for a Minute. I know that it’s hard to love ________ (fill in the blank!). True, some people do make it difficult. Nevertheless, try putting yourself in their shoes, just for a minute. Imagine all that is going on with them that you know about, and consider what might be going on that you don’t know about. No excuse, I know, for ‘them’ to be acting the way they do. Still, you take the high road. Smile.and send them LOVE.

Imagine the word “love” is sitting in your heart. Feel it. Breathe into it. Let it move up through from your heart and into your face. Smile, crinkly eyes and all. Soften your gaze and let ‘love’ flow!

3. Love for Love’s Sake. Could be that love with be sent back right at ya’ – and could be it NOT. Could be the recipient of your loving flowing feelings isn’t open for it, is preoccupied with their stuff, who knows. Don’t concern yourself with such matters. Just breathe into your loving feelings. Deep, deep breaths – and let it flow!

I’m sending love straight from my heart into the room, and there’s no one in the room! It feels great. You try it!

Spread the word … NOT the icing!
You may be clear about your goal, but are you thinking past your goal? Have you considered what reaching the goal will do for you or how it will change your life? Here, Janice Taylor Living, presents an opportunity for you to ‘coach yourself happy.’
———————————————————————————

People are often clear about a goal. At the same time, they are not clear about what achieving that goal will give them or do for them. Nor are they aware of how reaching their goals (weight loss or otherwise) will change their life as they know it.
You can achieve clarity by stating a goal.
“I want to be rich.”

Now ask yourself:
What will achieving this goal do for you?
A: It will allow me to quit my sucky job and travel.

What will traveling do for you?
A: It will broaden my horizons.

What will broadening my horizons do for you?
A: It will make me feel better about the way I live my life.

What will making you feel better about living your life do for you?
A: It will make me feel good about myself.

What will feeling good about yourself give to you?
A: Self-confidence

What will self-confidence give to you?
A: Freedom to be me.
